This casual interview and performance just confirmed our suspicions that Ora is the real deal. She sings surprisingly well in a live, stripped-down acoustic setting, and charm just radiates from this Kosovo-born, London-raised 21-year-old.

Watch Rihanna get topless, swim around, and then dance fireside in her new video for “Where Have You Been,” the 5th single from Talk That Talk.
AMERICAN IDOL RECAP: Sing a song by Queen, then sing whatever you want, I guess (4/25/2012 & 4/26/2012)

It was a chance to be Queen for a day for the Top 6, with the remaining contestants choosing a classic Queen song, as well as a random song of their own choosing. Is it just me, or does Queen have a long-standing promotional relationship with American Idol?

Welcome back to my slow, painful unraveling… I mean, The Parody OD, a monthly roundup of YouTube’s burgeoning pop parodists! This time around, we see what the “Weird” Als of the digital generation have on one of the most popular singles in recent memory, “Somebody That I Used To Know,” by Gotye, who really should be going by his real name Wally De Backer. Filmed in their hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Hanson’s video for “Thinking ‘Bout Somethin’” is a meticulously-shot pastiche of the “Shake A Tail Feather” scene from The Blues Brothers. The homage features choreographed dances, guitar tosses, cute kids, and even a Weird Al cameo.

This week, the contestants were tasked with singing two songs each, the loose theme being that one song had to be classic, and one song had to be contemporary. The judges used their only save of the season on Jessica Sanchez last week, so we’re still dealing with a Top 7 lineup.

A weekend’s worth of sunburns, buzz-bands, and enviable social media updates wrapped up in Indio, California last night, as Coachella 2012 came to a close. A unique partnership with YouTube allowed Coachella to offer much of the festival online via live-streaming, and lucky for us, a lot of it has been posted for our viewing pleasure.

This week, the top 7 contestants were tasked with singing songs from this decade. So, that gives you a range of 2010-2012, a whole two years and 3 months. Many of the songs are from late 2011 and early 2012, so something tells me Jimmy Iovine’s trying to bump the first quarter numbers for his Interscope Records roster by pushing current hits on the Idol hopefuls.
