5 Directions Werner Herzog Will Give The Killers

August 29, 2012  |

The live-webcast series American Express Unstaged matches popular musical acts with high-profile film directors. The most unexpected and insane pairing so far has to be new-wave pop band The Killers with none other than the Bavarian dystopian himself, Werner Herzog. Here are 5 directions we think Werner Herzog will give The Killers while directing their live-webcast.

Hillside Fashion: The Hottest Looks From The Folk Festival

July 30, 2012  |

They say that Hillside Festival style is light-years ahead of the rest of the world; by the time we “discovered” Thai fisherman pants and tribal tattoos, the Hillside fashion set was already onto to the next big thing! So, on a recent jaunt to the dusty, musty plains of the Guelph Lake Island conservation area, we made sure to keep our cameras at the ready — snapping the best and freshest style on the archipelago.

Full Flex Fashion: The Hottest Looks From The Skrillex Show

July 16, 2012  |

On Friday, July 13th, Pop Hunter braved the sweaty, soiled crowds of the Full Flex Express tour stop-off at Fort York. We anticipated an interesting variety of electronic music coupled with a healthy dose of bro-steppers, but what we hadn’t expected was a “haute” field of the latest, wildest fashions of the summer. AMERICAN IDOL RECAP: British Invasion & 1960s Week (5/2/2012 & 5/3/2012)

This week on idol it was down to 5. I honestly can’t remember that many contestants prior to the final 10 or 12, and I suppose that’s the point. The opening pre-credits segment of every Thursday episode now grows incrementally more saccharine and dramatic, as if all the contestants have terminal diseases or something.

Pop Music Pedagogy: Interview with a Pre-Teen

April 4, 2012  |

I don’t remember exactly what triggered my love for pop music exactly, but it probably happened around grade 6 or 7. When I noticed that my younger brother Kale (he’s 12, I’m 26) had become riveted in the same way, I was curious as to what his thoughts were about pop music today.
