Carly Rae Jepsen and Owl City collaborate on “Good Time”

June 20, 2012   |

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Owl City. The mere mention of that name probably caused that insufferable “Fireflies” chorus to invade your brain, like a parasite that’s been incubating since the summer of 2009. Sorry for that.

Owl City’s Adam Young is taking another crack at sugar-sweet radio dominance, with an album of collaborations called The Midsummer Station. He’s got songs featuring StarGate, that equally insufferable girl from Karmin, and this feel-good summer anthem with reigning pop princess Carly Rae Jepsen.

There’s no denying that this song is crazy-infectious, but it has us kind of wishing that Carly Rae was the only vocalist on the track. Young’s cutesy, nasally delivery is just laying it on too thick.

Jepsen’s still looking for a follow-up hit to “Call Me Maybe,” and the the timing of this Owl City track is perfect. It’s too bad the man-boy from Owl City had to ruin it with his dumb voice.

After that shining endorsement, check out the track below! Crank it up if you love summer jams and man-children!
