That just might be the most confusing Pop Hunter headline of all time.
Well, I guess that less-famous American One Direction shouldn’t complain, because between the publicity they got over their impending law suit and the accidental buys on iTunes from fans trying to buy the legitimate U.K. One Direction’s record, they’ve landed themselves a spot on the Billboard Heatseakers album charts.
The American One Direction’s EP Chase This Light sits at #48 on the Heatseakers Album charts, selling 1000 copies last week. Since the record was released in August 2011, it has sold a total of 6000 copies. This week, the U.K. One Direction’s hit album Up All Night sold over 60 times as many copies as their American counterparts this week (66,000), giving them the #5 spot on the Billboard 200.
In an official statement made to Billboard, the American One Direction said “We may not have Simon Cowell’s machine behind us, but we have many loyal fans. We thank them for supporting our albums, and we intend to stand up for the right to Rock and Roll!”
